2023: Partnership, Progress, and Growing Global Access to Eye Care through Real Innovation

Happy New Year from the entire team at Norlase! As we welcome the new year, we look forward to building on the momentum gained throughout 2023, a year of tremendous growth, record sales and production output–and a new addition to our series of portable and affordable laser solutions.

2023 saw the FDA clearance and CE Mark of our ECHO Green Pattern Laser photocoagulator, which has allowed us to make pattern scanning technology more accessible to ophthalmologists around the world. Developed as an industry-first portable pattern scanning laser with an affordable price point, ECHO has been praised by doctors for its ease of use and functionality and exhibits our commitment to groundbreaking ophthalmic technology.

Above all, 2023 was defined by some incredible growth for Norlase, as the global reach of ECHO, LION, and LEAF continues to extend. Our technology is on track to become the industry standard for laser photocoagulators, and during the year, we were thrilled to launch in several new markets, including Mexico, Israel, Indonesia and South Korea. Our regional leaders have been hard at work to improve practice efficiency and patient care in these markets, redefining what’s possible for ophthalmic care providers globally. We hosted meetings for our Distribution partners at the ESCRS and AAO, welcoming over 100 total attendees. We hope to meet many more of you in the new year.

Some additional highlights:

Amidst this period of expansion, we simultaneously celebrated the growth of our Norlase team: we welcomed new members in departments ranging from R&D and manufacturing, to sales and distribution. These remarkable new additions to the Norlase family bring top-tier knowledge of the industry and experience with ophthalmic devices, and we’re honored to have them onboard. Norlase is now comprised of nearly sixty global employees, and we had the pleasure of gathering our entire team for the first time since COVID at our Denmark HQ this past June.

More than ever, we see how impactful our unique technology is for both patients and providers. Our ultra-compact, portable lasers empower ophthalmologists like Dr. Paul Runge who treats babies with ROP in the Ukraine, and organizations like Orbis and Retina Global– all with a shared mission of providing sight-saving care to patients most in need.

March 2023. Dr. Paul Runge treating an infant with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) at the Children’s Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk with the first LION in Ukraine, where he worked closely with Dr. Tetyana Gavrylyshyn.

September 2023. The entire LION Green Laser System arriving on Easter Island (Rapa Nui) along with a group of Chilean doctors, our distributor Zonular, and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC Chile), where they spent a week treating patients in need of sight-saving care.

As our distribution network now covers 70 countries, we have been able to advance our mission of providing transformative technology to more doctors and patients than ever before. Seeing doctors share how our lasers have helped them in their practice only furthers our resolve to transform ophthalmic care for the better worldwide.

After a year of impressive growth and acceptance of our products, 2024 will provide even more excitement, along with the groundbreaking innovation that ophthalmologists expect from Norlase. 2024 will be the year where we reveal our most innovative product yet – stay tuned!

Cheers to the new year!
