Management Team

Oliver is a cofounder of Norlase, which started as a university research project and is now delivering superior solutions to the ophthalmic industry. As a leader and innovator, Oliver is devoted to creating and introducing premiere products born from a culture of quality, transparency and dedication.

Greg Fava brings over 25 years of ophthalmic laser experience to Norlase, having previously held positions at IRIDEX, Optimedica, and Topcon Medical Laser Systems. His experience in working directly with ophthalmic industry experts provided an understanding of the features needed to create impactful and
disruptive products.

Andrew Berkowitz has spent over 30 years in ophthalmic sales, launching 32 products and holding multiple sales management positions. He was a pivotal part of the teams launching paradigm shifting products, including the first true solid-state laser (IRIDEX), the first pattern scanning laser (Optimedica),
and now LEAF.

Taoufiq (TJ) Jellal began a career in ophthalmology in 1989 and brings a wealth of experience in the creation and growth of major markets, particularly in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has a deep understanding of product and distribution and has successfully led growth and global sales at startups and major ophthalmic companies such as Allergan, Alcon, and IRIDEX.

High-tech entrepreneur Peter M. W. Skovgaard co-founded Norlase and has been instrumental in building the company and developing our next-generation laser technology. A PhD in high-power semiconductor lasers, Peter has over 20 years of experience in bringing photonics technology from research to market at companies such as GIGA (acquired by Intel), NKT Photonics and Kaleido.

Top laser scientist and innovator Danny Noordegraaf was hand-picked from Denmark’s largest laser manufacturer to run Norlase’s technology development.  Danny has more than 40 scientific publications within photonics and laser technology and was awarded Researcher of the Year by the Danish Optical Society in 2011. As CTO, Danny has spearheaded the technological breakthroughs behind the LEAF green laser system.

Coming from a position as Quality Director in the global med-tech company Oticon, Jan joined Norlase in 2018. He has managed the establishment of Norlase’s rigorous Quality Management System, ensuring that every product lives up to the highest quality standard in compliance with ISO 13485 and QSR 820. He led the team’s efforts in obtaining EU MDR certification in January 2023, well ahead of the May 2024 deadline, which demonstrates Norlase’s commitment to compliance. The EU MDR 2017/745 on medical devices is a major update to medical devices and replaces the previous EU Medical Device Directive (MDD) designed to modernize the EU regulatory system.

Jan also led and orchestrated the successful efforts to obtain FDA 510(K) clearance for the LEAF and LION green laser systems.

Since joining Norlase in 2019, Peter has been the driving force behind the establishment and robust scaling of our production processes. Stepping up as our COO in 2022, he’s been the backbone of our operational growth. Before being a part of Norlase, Peter rose through the ranks at global pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk, in the area of manufacturing development. And when he’s not in the office? Peter’s the kind of guy who once soared down mountains as a national champion in freeride skiing.
