FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ballerup, Denmark and Redwood City, CA, USA – September 21, 2021 – Norlase, a leader in ultra-portable laser treatment devices for retina and glaucoma diseases, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted patent number 11,094,321 for a first-of-its-kind “Voice Control System for Ophthalmic Laser Systems.”
The system allows physicians to control parameters for laser delivery with voice recognition technology. Norlase’s industry-first voice control feature allows doctors to stay focused on their patients during treatment rather than moving to and from the laser device – improving treatment efficiency and patient care. The voice control feature can be found on Norlase’s existing family of lasers including the LEAF slit lamp based green laser photocoagulator and the LION, the industry-first laser integrated within an indirect ophthalmoscope.
“We’re excited to be recognized for innovation within the field of ophthalmology,” says Greg Fava, Norlase Vice President, Medical Devices. “We have more patents pending in this field to improve physician and patient experiences through technology. This patent recognizes the novel aspect of how voice recognition enables doctors to focus more strongly on the patient, rather than the device.”
